    Hello,

I am very new to antiques/collectibles and have made my first purchase today for our new home.

I was in Windsor, and stumbled on a nice shop where I purchased two French floral gilt chairs and a French oval mirror.

I wasn’t told the exact period of the chairs but they did tell me the mirror was 90 years old.

furthermore they told me the chairs were hand crafted and gold plated.

Not having much prior knowledge I wonder if anyone can help or offer any advice on authenticity of these items based on the pictures attached (please click on link as files too big to upload directly)?

    Best wishes

Sorry I’m still learning to use the thread. Thank you so much for posting the full size pics for me.

Now, I just hope someone can help by telling if these appear genuine antiques.

I'm going to ask the moderators to move this to the furniture forum so more people with knowledge will see them. Not everyone reads posts in 'introductions'.

Not to worry, you are quickly getting the hang of things.

@Bookahtoo or @daveydempsey please more to 'furniture'. Thank you.

Not to worry, Amir. All new members struggle a bit with posting pics at first.

Hi @amir fathi, and WELCOME to ANTIQUERS!!! Not to worry!! You did just fine getting your images up for the first time!!!!:):) Once your post has been moved to "furniture" you may want to post more images if the backs, bottoms and any tags on your pieces you come across!! The furniture people usually want that information!

Neither chairs nor mirror are French to my French eyes...:cyclops:;)

Thank you all for your comments. It’s a tough decision and I know it’s hard to make a accurate assessment from pictures.

maybe once they arrive I can take more pictures form the back of mirror and underside of chairs.

the chairs were sold to me for £1200 for the pair and the mirror for £750 - can anyone advise if the costly even remotely reflects the furniture or have I been ripped off?

Not a clue on style but agree with others, chairs do not appear antique.

Thinking these pieces are of relatively recent vintage. Not antique. Very pretty, but I'm afraid you overpaid.

I can’t help with assessment of value, but would trust the others who say likely not valuable.

That being said, as they were purchased for your new home, and obviously you like them, the set is likely valuable in that sense.
    :)
Best of Luck in your new Home!
