I think that is a fairly recent reproduction piece that reminds me of a grossly fat person whose belly is heading for their knees.

Hahaha...nice thought. How recent you think it is,because i know that it was in a house over 50 years.

I'm thinking it might date from a fad for this style in the 1960s. If that is a marble top it must be very heavy. It may be modern enough to have some maker's stamp somewhere, possibly underneath. Just finding one modern screw would demolish any pretensions to antiquity.

    No stamps no mark anywhere.
The top is marble very heavy.I am going to look for a screw but i dont think i find one

When the current site problems are fixed there will be other opinions. At present most users can't get in.

It looks like it was made with power tools. Beyond that, you've got me.

It kinda freaks me out to think the 60s WAS 50 years ago ! I think its more 80s myself ,that finish , that color marble , etc . But that's just a guess .

Heck I'm 50. (LOL) The faux finish and metalwork look like they're straight out of the early to mid 1970s, at least to me. We really need Brad on this one.

Agree with the others that it looks newer. Exaggerated French bombe style chest. Most likely made in Egypt or Asia somewhere.

Personal opinion-that thing's so ugly it is scary, like a steroid addict, or something that's chasing me down a road made of thick, hot molten tar in a bad nightmare, and it is gaining on me. Eeeeeeek!

It would win any ugly furniture contest.

Here in my neck of the woods ( n. fla ) you MIGHT get 2-300 on a very good day . But this style is dead in the water , at least here .
