    Hello Group,

I've had this vase for a while. It was retailed by long defunct Ovington's department store in New York (5th Avenue). Looking online, we don't see anything really similar. Ovington's typically had art glass vases imported from France, so chances are this is also French. Has several of the same fish swimming around, with waves at the bottom.

Any ideas on who might have crafted it? The acid cutting looks similar to some Daum Nancy.

The only mark is on the base OVINGTON | NEW YORK

Measures 9-1/2"H x about 9-1/2"W, and about 7-1/4" across the top rim.

More large photos are on my Google Photos album

    Thanks in advance,

Stunning ! It screams quality so Im surprised theres no makers mark. My knee jerk reaction was French, but thats a guess.

Thanks... same guess for me, sort of. Ovington's sold a lot of french glass, most of the earlier stuff being marked. This, I think, is a little later, before they closed, and after they changed the name from Ovington's or Ovington Bros to Ovington. I can't say exactly when that was, as there is so little published about the closing of the store. Maybe I have to find a forum for that, too.

Every time I see something marked "Ovington's." (or whatever version), I check it out. They had bee-yoo-ti-ful things!

It seems to be copying the Lalique fish vase.

I did look at Lalique, and did not really find any fish or shapes like this. Thanks for the input, though.

The waves remind me of the Asian style of waves. Not saying yours is Asian, just thinking out loud. :)
