What type of statue would this be? It seems like bronze over some type of clay, I can dig into the bottom center but once it gets into the bronze part it is definitely metal, unsigned measuring 19" head to tail, 7-5/8" height and 4-1/2" wide. Unsigned. lion1.jpg lion2.jpg lion3.jpg lion4.jpg lion5.jpg

I know you can bronze over plaster casts. It's one possibility.

It is very nice, but it is not cold painted and not by Bergman. Cold painted bronze is a true bronze which is painted with cold enamel instead of hot enamel. It is (multi)coloured.
This is a typical Bergman cold painted bronze:

So what would be used to describe it? It is metal as I can cut a sliver off of the metal part on the bottom which is open with the clay like material filled in. Interesting in how it was made. What is weird is the patina on the bottom.

Jivvy the research is my favorite

I'm wondering if this is some kind of bonded bronze thing, but I don't know enough about the process (mix of resin and bronze powder) to say.
