A guy knocked on my door last night; it turned out I'd bought some stuff from him at his yard sale a few months ago and he had just bought another house to flip and wanted to know if I wanted to see some antiques & paintings he'd found in it.
I ended up buying 3 paintings and this lamp. The lamp cost me $40.
Can anyone tell me about it; age, if Japanese? Cloisonne?
    Any info would help.
PS - Sorry finial is out of focus; it is made of small flowers and looks like it could be bone or ivory?
    Thanks

I found one described as "Haipai" - can I use that to describe mine?
    Thanks

Haipai refers to the culture of the Chinese city of Shanghai, which is a specific mix of different Chinese and Western traditions. It can be used for art, architecture, clothing, food.
I think they meant that the lamp is a mix of Oriental and Western traditions, but it is not the correct term for a Japanese lamp.

The beautiful cheongsam or Shanghai dress, the best known example of Haipai culture:
