Just bought it at a second hand shop because I think it looks great! It has a Mappin and Webb stamp with code W3386. Found it in Melbourne Australia.

Electroplate cannot be dated with any accuracy and as far as I know the factory pattern numbers are not documented anywhere.

Top half of a chafing dish. I'm sure you can find a use for it keeping the flies off a suitably sized flat plate. It's very pretty.

Covered serving dish - the handle should turn for removal so the top can be used as a second dish...

Here's a rectangular one from an 1894 Mappin & Webb ad (yours is nicer):

Oh wow, where did you find that picture? Been looking for anything like that for hours! I will start travelling Australia around December, this means I will need to sell it, you reckon it is worth something? Paid 25 AUD$ for it.

Assuming you have both the top and the bottom (it's hard to tell from your photos) and there is no significant plate loss/damage, IMHO it's worth about what you paid for it, perhaps a little more when cleaned up. It would look much better with a good polishing!
THIS ONE sold for about $38 AUS.

Mappin and Webb will add value. Without that, these are nice, but standard.

Agreed, good maker and nice pattern. Online will be your only shot at a profit most likely though. There aren’t tons of folks whom will want this but the ones that do would likely find it on eBay.
