    Hey Forum,

Found this beautiful needle point under a ton of stuff at an antique mall in Hopkinsville KY. I will try to repair a few spots. I thought to ask if anyone knew anything about it. It's very old.

Any suggestions welcome on what it is, what age and where it came from.

    It's just beautiful to me.

I am going to guess here: 1920s Egyptian Revival done with mostly wool threads.
I could be completely wrong, so please wait for others who may know more about needlepoint and art than I do. It's very nice, but in time the wooden frame it's mounted on will eat the edges up with acid. If it were mine, I'd have it reframed, maybe under glass.. Are those little metal seed beads mixed in?

    Welcome to Antiquers, @CarrieL

No it's metallic beads like a bracelet or jewelry. His other hand is kissing her hand.

The finer work was done for you, and then the lady of the household (or daughter) finished the rest. They were selling kits made that way even after WWII. I'd think 1920s for this one too.

Definitely needs to come off that frame before further damage is done.
Rather simplistic design, with basic needlepoint/petit point stitches, but somewhat unusual subject matter. Agree that it appears to be done in wool.
Glad you found something you love!
