When removing old sofas from clearances I tip them up and usually they rattle with coins that have been lost.
I cut the bottom away and recover coins, banknotes, cutlery, pens etc.

This latest one was a 14k gold gents watch.

Awarded to a German chap for 25 years loyal service.

    I have often searched furniture
When the boy was moving into his first apartment , he said he needed a sofa
At auction there was a gaudy 1970s one
Couldn't get him on the phone in time
It went unsold. Was free out back.
I tried him on the phone again while sitting on it.
Reached deep under the cushions and got a wood splinter clear through my finger.

Congrats Davey on finding such gems. How is your shoulder?

Still painful, contemplating acupuncture, heard from two different people who stated it was the only thing that worked for them.
There is a practise within walking distance of me, I might book an appointment when work ceases for a bit

Davey I would try that if it is covered under insurance of is reasonable. I wanted to get it for my migraines but it is not covered and the cost is too high out of pocket.

I wonder how long the watch was down in the cushions.

I wonder how long the guy looked for his watch. Probably turned his house upside down and fired the lady the came in to clean the house every other week. Turns out he had taken it off while taking a nap one day and it was eaten by the couch. He sat inches from his beloved lost watch for a decade(s) not knowing it was right there the whole time. So close, yet so far away. My parents got rid of the old couch in my teenage bedroom when I was out traveling. If you had tipped that thing you’d have found all my lost wacky tabacaky and accoutrements. I had a hole in the lining under the cushions. I could blindly reach up to a little natural shelf area where I had all sorts of contraband stored. Naturally some of it must have fallen in crevices and crannies. Twenty years later I bet if you sat me on that couch I could still bend and twist my arm and put my hand right in the perfect spot to get what I was after. It was a great hiding spot. I’d kill to go back and be a fly on the wall of that room the day they moved it. I can only imagine what was under that couch after years of teenage depravity.

Beautiful watch. Is the band gold as well?

    No, it's a steel band.
The guy named on the watch was not the resident of the house, so I presume it must have been bequeathed to him from a relative.

£50 an hour privately, 4 x 1-hour sessions they reckon.

Not too bad. Here it is 75 euro for the first session including intake, and 50 euro each for the next sessions.
I have a comprehensive insurance, I believe it covers 75% of the cost of acupuncture and other recognized complementary treatments.
