Fossil or what ?

    Ive had this thing forever,and never really figured out WHAT it is . Its about 2 1/2 inches long. ANY ideas are gratefully recieved. Sorry if its the wrong board,I wasn't sure where to ask.

    yes a fossil. I think it's an Orthoceras fossil.

    Orthoceras Fossils. Orthoceras are dated to the lower Ordovician to Triassic ages (500 to 190 million years ago). They are ancestors to the modern day squid. The Orthoceras ranged in size from a few inches in length to over six feet.

    I think your exactly right ! Thank you ! That is so cool to think it could be 400 million years old,isnt it ?
