Featured Folk Art Painting...Artist ID Help???

Picked this up today...Not Signed...I know some,may have their opinions on this..I myself like it alot & find it interesting!...That`s Art!!...Any help or thoughts appreciated.

I think outsider art more than folk. Find it interesting and too bad it isn't signed. Not sure that I see anything in it to attribute this to an African American artist.

 

It would be a bland world if we did....
I meant no disrespect to Sperls either.....thoughts were asked for....& I'm not shy.

The art work is done well enough to elicit feelings in me, of chaos, dread, confusion & a child's fear of what monsters lay under their bed at night......& that's not my cup of horror !!

If anyone else finds it to their liking they are free to say so without judgement from me ......but I for one would not fancy being in the same room with it !

I'd title it 'Family Life' and hang it in the shed.

Proably came from an art therapy class at a local asylum.

Interesting symbolism in the background, a shadow figure (a dead one?), can't really tell what else? Perhaps something small that I cannot see surrounding the main figures in this painting will give you a hint of what it's about?

Well, about the "charm" part! It does look like someone was painting voodoo.

Definitely outsider art and I'd put a steep price on it even unsigned. Look carefully because it could be signed somewhere in the back ground of the painting. What does the back look like? I really do like it.

It is appx 36" x 54"...Painted on board...No signature on back or front?

 

If you have a modern art museum nearby or can send images to one, I'd do that. You might be surprised.

 

The High Museum of Art in Atlanta has the best contemporary exhibits I know of. Last year I saw Basquiat there.

I've seen much worse folk art (Woodie) people have paid $1000s for.
