Featured Fish Knife Set

Picked up this fish set as I liked the pattern on the handles.Very worn marks on all the sides of the handles but have been able to make out a date letter in Gothic script and remains of other marks but impossible to make out.One other thing is a Wolf sitting I can make out on the bottom of the handles.A magnet is attracted for about 4 cms where the blade and handle join but nowhere else .Would anyone have a suggestion to check if the blade is silver without too much damage?

 

What date letter did you find?

 

@Bakersgma, looks like there might be a 'Z' with tiny number's' in the lower right corner by the lion???

Possibly a gothic U but it’s very hard to make out any other marks Will try again with a different camera see if I can catch the impressions of the marks.

 

The animal is more likely to be an owner's symbol than part of the maker's mark or hallmark.

 

Hi yes the family crest , on this piece looks like a wolf apparently around 20 families used this image so will try and find the pattern which is unusual.thanks for all replies always very helpful on this site all the best.
