Wondering what it might be made of. The head has been glued back on!
    4 1/2 inch high.
    7.16 oz heavy.
    Thank you for looking!

The bottom half looks like satin spar(selenite),the top may be the same.

Looks pearly color, selenite seems to be it. Thank you.

Yes selenite, I remember those from the 60s or 70s. Russian maybe?

Yes, I had a vague memory that these were Russian, just wasn't sure. It is cute.

I was going to suggest something in the same family, calcite alabaster.

I just saw the other thread with this material. The box.

That is most likely calcite alabaster. Would have suggested onyx marble as a possibility, but do not see any stratification. All these things started out with the calcium from the shells of tiny ocean organisms, Just depends on what happened to the deposits afterward.

I remember buying a figurine of birds carved from this stuff in the early '70s. As I recall, that peach-colored stone has an almost fibrous quality.

    Selenite has that look.

Spar gypsum does too, but the color isn't right. She may seem to glow in the right light.

I’ve been waiting for the right light, I thought it might have some reflective properties.

I believe they are two names for the same thing. It is not moonstone, but that is the meaning of 'selenite'.

Could be. I had a chunk of it here once. It sat almost in shadow and it still looked like it was lit up. I've always wanted to find one of those light base things and another chunk of it to use as a night light.

Not sure if this is what it’s supposed to do. Lit from underneath?
