Figurine Chinese Man riding a deer - soapstone?

    Is there any meaning to this Chinese man riding a deer and carrying a small vase? You think it is soapstone? thanks for any help!

    I agree soapstone.

    God of Longevity.
    I think what he is holding is a peach, a symbol of longevity.

    Having fun here, the deer may symbolize a good ride. Just joking. I'm not sure why he is riding a deer.

    Well open your eyes and look.
    He is sitting twisted over the back. His knee is even with the deer's head, and the rectangle is not a saddle, but his sandle/shoe.

    Me too.
    Can't see with 'em and can't read without them.

    I carry two different strengths so I can read in different situations. Frustrating!!!
