I like many of those but I like the shade on this very basic Clarkes FAIRY LAMP very much.

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

    Well, wow!
I just learned something new. Again.
A relative passed down some little lamps like these to another relative. I had admired them but thought they were just antique votives, although they had whimsical shapes. I must go about stealing them now.

That one, too, is one of my favorites!

The cool thing about many Clarkes lamps was that they sold bases and shades matched or seperately, so you could mix & match. Many used to show up with what looked to be an incorrect shade color-wise or decoration-wise but was actually picked by the first owner, which I like. Also if your'e a collector you can switch shades from one base to another.

Wonder how many times we have picked up the bottoms of these lamps at thrift stores and not known what they were?

I like personalized objects and just found this one being sold in a lot with four other lamps, all on rather generic bases. It says, "Good night dear MacKinley 1893". Possibly commemorating a dear departed loved one?

An amusing 1940 article about fairy lamps (AKA fairy lights) and Clarke's Burgler's Horror nine-hour stubby candles:

    https://www.collectorsweekly.com/articles/burglars-horror/

“When nights are dark; Then think of Clarke; Who’s hit the mark precisely; For his night lights; Create light nights; In which we see quite nicely.”

That Doulton one is interesting. I covet the shape, but I think it's a marriage. I've never seen an Aladdin's lamp from them with a glass insert and it's not in any of the books, either.
