    Hi there

I'm looking for some more information on this piece, it's impressed with 4425. What does the red mark indicate, looks like "Izy".

    Thanks in advance.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Very pretty... it appears to be well made. The blue did indeed flow!

Why is this a spill vase? (Mentioned in the thread title.)
Looks to me like a double candle holder. :)

If candle holder melted wax could go all the way down to table or mantle top ,at least it looks like it could. The spills would just rest on the bottom. I think women were trying to dress op spills holders though necessary spills were not attractive.

I agree. I think this a double candle holder. I don't think molten candle wax could reach the table top because it would solidify after a few centimeters. The candle would block the hole anyway for molten candle wax to run down the inside of the candle holder. :pompous:

Spill does not refer to things spilling. It means a holder for spills: typically rolled paper used to light fires.

I agree, likely German, late 19th/early 20th c. and my vote is for candle holder.
