Ethnic paintings

I am pretty sure these are African but would appreciate knowing general region they cane from , thanks in advance

Middle Eastern?

 

After a bit of Googling, I agree with Davey. We had a thread here a while back involving similar-looking portraits. May have been photos. I'm trying to find it!

 

The time I have spent in north Africa is super minimal, but the nose and heavy brows were what sent me a bit farther north.

Gila, did you find any similar characteristics in your search? I missed them imaging Berbers.

I Googled Berber Woman and Tuareg Woman, and found some similar profiles and head wraps... yeah, at first look, #2 looks more Middle Eastern, but there are some surprisingly light-skinned and delicately-featured ladies. I assume (quite possibly incorrectly) that since they're done by the same artist, the best fit for both was Berber-Tuareg. I guess I'm also assuming that it was the same artist painting in the same location...

Thanks, I was considering them as Saharan nomads. Not really by skin tones. Just couldn't find any bushy eyebrows and similar nose structures. I'll chalk this one up to one of (I hope not the only) thing I learned today.

BTW, I believe both pictures are in the U. S. I accept the artist as quite talented , but wonder if they were done here or overseas.

My previous comments were about lineage, not current location.

Yes the are both in US, I bought many years ago at the estate sale of a Dr, who had travelled worldwide in 50,s-70,s There were many items in his collection from central Africa, Egypt, seems he was a big game hunter if I remember correctly, Thank you all for your input, they are hanging on my living room wall, .
