Found this at an estate sale, the stone looks plastic. And it is overlaid gold. I bought it for like a dollar, thinking I could possibly cash it in at one of those gold buying places? May try eBay cuz the setting is kinda quirky/cool..... 20211229_090631_copy_756x1008.jpg 20211229_090602_copy_756x1008.jpg 20211229_090544_copy_756x1008.jpg 20211229_090520_copy_756x1008.jpg

It isn't going to be worth anything on it's own as far as scraping value since it's electroplated.

So you're saying you cannot scrap electroplated?

You can, but you need a large quantity of it for it to be worth it.

Does it feel warmish or cold to the touch?

I wouldn't have spent a dollar on it. HGE - heavy gold electroplate. Scrappers do buy gold-filled items but they pay by the pound. Sometimes. They generally don't want electroplate. The design is funky though, so it might be worth messing with if you need something to mess with.

The design screams 1970s. Uncas rings I have seen were silver, with glass or other artificial 'stone'.

OK, this is what you do... tap the stone on your front teeth then tap a piece of glass and a piece of plastic. You will know right away if it is plastic or not :)

Is this a safe method (LOL)....you might not believe this but I'm a dental hygienist. I tell patients all the time "your teeth are NOT a tool..."

All you have to do it tap lightly, and clean the ring before you do it, it should be perfectly safe.

Wearing it and smashing your fist into someone else's teeth is not recommended. Unless they've more than earned it, of course.:smuggrin::smuggrin::mask::mask::mask:
