Is this a Inuit or Eskimo carving? It has no name but does have some kind of serial/catalog/auction number on the bottom along with 'Oline Canada'.
It also appears to scratch easy & is cool to the touch (but heavy) - is it soapstone?
    It is largish - it measures 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" x 3"
    Thanks all!

Not Inuit. It is indeed soapstone and apparently hand carved.

Thanks - any idea of age? If it is hand carved it still has some value, right?
    Is it worth listing?
    Thanks again!

Wolf Originals are cast resin. This is hand carved. You can do a little retouching with the proper colored marker from an art supply store. Just don’t call it “native”

I've seen people saying that online. I have run across scores of them that are carved stone.

Wolf Originals are not resin, and they will not respond like resin to a hot-pin test. However, they are not soapstone, and are not carved.
They are cast from a plaster-like compound called Hydrostone, with a top-coating of resin for gloss and hardness; as a last step they are dusted with talc to bring out details. The history of the company is pretty easy to find; they have never made anything from soapstone. In an interesting twist, the Canadian government does allow them to be sold as "soapstone carvings."
If anyone has a different opinion, they are welcome to it; but I'd suggest getting some soapstone, carving it for a while, and then taking another look at the Wolf Originals. The details they show simply cannot be obtained in a soapstone carving.
In any case, this item is not a Wolf Original.

Most of what I'm seeing online now is nothing like what I saw 10 years ago. Back then I was seeing simply carved animals. Seal, otter, beaver, birds. Little detail.

I've had this jade (?) piece for awhile that I believe is a oriental (because of the dragon head & lute(?) design of the whole) incense holder, but the carved animals around the bowl sure remind me of inuit/eskimo carvings!
