I saw this staring at me through a shop window today. Surprised no one else picked it up as it is a nice object. Im guessing its south asian. Indian perhaps. 20230304_104559.jpg 20230304_104607.jpg 20230304_115549.jpg

Looks like it was cast and not engraved.

I like the look of the work on it, looks familiar to pieces I have had
But the base does bother me though looks not old

Thanks for observations guys. Yes there does seem to be a lack of tooling marks. You are probably correct about it being cast and agree on the base too. Maybe cast from an antique original? Only £2.50 though. Bit disappointed but I've had worse disasters.

Size? About 12cm diameter at a guesstimate. Sorry I'm still in bed

Don't be to hard on yer self
Sum aspects of it look totally convincing,

Just the base doesn't look right to me For age

I'd expect the foot rim to be thinner, and the overall colour more aged underneath

Cheers. I wasn't aware of thickness of rim being an indicator of age. It is all shiny inside too so maybe I should rub some crap on it. ;)

I agree, Kashmir imo. A very pretty lidded bowl. This type of ware is generally cast.
I'll take it off your hands for free, I'm feeling charitable today.:playful:
