Enameled tea glass holder

Hi all. Picked this up mainly because I thought the ships well done.I thought it copper ,then brass,now I dont know what the heck the finish is ! I *think* its 1950s-60s , Russian perhaps. I found plenty of other examples but not with ships like this. I also have no idea what that mark is .Oh,its 2 1/2 tall and 3 wide . Any input welcome.

very interesting. Would another glass sit inside the item you show so it could be used for drinks.

 

I find several sellers, one on eBay and one on Etsy, both translate that mark as LUM... something to do with the Leningrad Jewelry Company / Factory. Communist Soviet USSR era. Wrap your tongue around this, PODSTAKANNIK is a keyword for these Russian tea glass holders!

I can't vouch for any of it, just showing you what might be clues.

My grandparents had similar ones but they were silver or silver plated and a glass inserted into it for drinking hot tea.
My paternal grandparents were Russian so...

 

We seen these here a number of times. If they were not Russian, I would be amazed.

agree- interesting. did find similar with same WOIV mark and 'made in USSR' mark

I would transliterate the letters in the mark as LIUM or LYUM, but -- minor detail since we are in the English-speaking parts of the world. P.s., just looked a bit and found some sites using the LYUM transliteration.
