We cleared an attic last week and found a large amount of rock & pop memorabillia including around 10,000 pieces relating to Elvis Presley.
It is quite overwhelming wading through it due to the sheer amount.

There`s lots of junk and newspaper clippings and Graceland souvenirs.

We got about 10 of these vinyl window decals measuring 24" x 8"

    Elvis Presley A Golden Celebration
    RCA (records) Elvis 50th Anniversary.
what are these for and where are they from ?

The poor deceased fella that collected all this stuff must have spent a fortune on it even purchasing photo`s from the US which are actually taken off a TV screen, not a live performance, (what a rip off)

There even photo`s with "Copy Write" on the back.

That should keep you busy for a while. Shame most of it is effectively rubbish. Also I'd say the Elvis market is well past it's best.

Still, a hoard is a hoard.

I`m meeting a man on Sunday who is equally obsessive, he`s bald but walks about in an Elvis wig and his car is covered in Elvis stickers, hopefully he will make me an offer I can`t refuse.
I just can`t work out these decals, he was 42 when he died and its 39 years since he died, so what does 50th anniversary mean ?

50th anniversary of his first record? First "hit" record? First recording on RCA?

I've never understood the appeal. Wasn't even a "fan" as a teen. Whatever floats your boat, I suppose.

Me neither, however I do remember what I was doing when news of his demise had filtered across the pond, I was in a nightclub at 1.30am smooching with a goddess

    hee!

I was staining some clear pine for bookshelves when I heard the news.

I remember meeting Elvis about 1956ish as a very young girl on the breezeway walk through Pontchatrain Beach in New Orleans. He told my parents - I was "beautiful".

When I asked my father why didn't he get his autograph, his response, "We didn't know he was going to be famous!" hahahaa!!

Antidiem, it probably was 1956 -- he was doing a "southern tour" during part of that year. He appeared in my town in February 1956 (his appearance was at our "third-tier" theater -- he could have never filled up our first or second-tier theaters at that point in time).

He was appearing quite often that year at the "Louisiana Hayride" in Shreveport.

Priscilla's family was living in Mt. Holly, NJ when he and Elvis tied the knot.
I was good friends with her brother. We bowled on the same league team for years.

I don't remember being all that enamored with him, either. Not sure why.

I didn't care for him til I saw him recording Viva Las Vegas at the International Hotel in Vegas. A show I saw for free and got his autograph. He worked his butt off for that and that impressed me.

I was on duty on a destroyer at the pier in Naval Station Mayport, Florida. I was up on the bow listening to my radio. I told the whole crew he died but no one would believe me.

I was in fifth or sixth grade at the time. I was probably doing homework.
