Hi, I have been passed this ladies 1920s 9ct gold watch by Edwin Harrop of London. It contains swiss movement and in working order. Serial number and makers mark stamped in the opening. It also contains the engravement of names of who serviced the watch decades ago. It does not have the original strap but a replaced gold strap. I was wondering what value these watches have and if there are places to sell these?
I was told people didn’t like small watch faces any more when I had one to sell. I scrapped it for the gold case and still feel slightly guilty about that.
I think it has a nice face and look to it....and u should hold out for more than scrap weight... but , that's just me...
I have serious hoarding tendencies, so if I had a nice looking and working watch that everyone else was breaking down for scrap, I would tuck it away for the future. Maybe see if I could find a contemporaneous/original band to put on it. Keep it running… …for a few years, until it disappeared under/behind all the other things “worth keeping,” forgotten entirely until I notice a post about how the interest in such things has faded, and watches like it that used to start bidding wars are now almost impossible to sell.
