Oil on canvas, 20 x 24, signed Jane S. Edmonds. 1954. The painting has an exhibit label - "Baltimore Museum of Art, 1954, titled 'New Mexico' with a $250. price.
I've not located any info on the artist - Does being exhibited at BMA mean anything particular ? $250. was a fair bit of money in '54.

It would be helpful if you posted a photograph of the exhibit label.

Great piece ! I couldnt find anything on the artist either, she may have gotten married and used another name. She was very talented in my opinion,so I couldnt imagine she quit painting.

Maybe...most female artists will keep 'their' name for artwork.

Update; Through contact with MMA, found out she was an award winning designer who had exhibited in 1952 (this painting) and in 1961 & 64. and had even won best of show for her work. Died at only 46 years old. I do enjoy locating history on the artist of paintings I find - so often info on the artist remains lost to time.

I suggest you print all that and put it in an inert sleeve on the back. :)
