I've been snooping around eBay and found this brooch. The postage makes the lot this is in undoable unfortunately, but I'm mighty curious as to this piece.

I thought this'd be AD with the colours and funkyness, but the back looks older? Is the waviness of the design a little more AN? That hinge is one of the old ones isn't it?
It does look like it used to be something else, a buckle? It's in a lot of buckles.

As you can see, many questions! :hilarious:

Reminds me of style similar to this kind of work. A little bit of the AN open work, but with a linear edge. The stones, if chrysoprase, are also super era/style appropriate.

Looks like shipping will be an issue long term.... anything from the UK will cost me at least 20e to ship. Nothing I'm looking at is less, even the odd listing from continental Europe. I'm in France, so not particularly out of the way...:arghh:

Now that is a nice piece. Very modern ...until you look at the back. Too bad the person who made it didn't SIGN the blasted thing.

This lot ended up going for 14.50 gbp, rather a steal I should think.

Mini rant on the subject of ebay auctions, just bid on a big lot of very nice costume (maybe not all?) brooches and the like, only to be outbid by someone's astronomical max bid auto thingy. The lot went from 18 to 42 pounds in 5 minutes :arghh::arghh::rage: I'd have paid the 13 pound postage and 8 pound import tax quite happily if I could have gotten it in the 20 range. Ah well, this winter will give me more opportunities I hope.

Y'all have budgets? I just have NEEDS. :greedy:

I jest. If I want something when my budget is toast, then it's time to throw a couple things on the Bay to compensate my behavior lol.

yeah I currently have a small store going, and have sold two items, but they only cover shipping with these prices. Seems astronomical really, 20 odd euros from the UK, 13 or 15 from latvia or germany. I know I'm rural but I'm not THAT rural. :hilarious:

Perhaps with a couple more items gone I'll be more confident to pay the big bucks!

Shipping is a nightmare all over. I feel bad charging the shipping prices I do but I make no profit on it (and lose more with Bay's insistance on scooping up fees on shipping too ). I used to sell quite a bit internationally but now I can't blame buyers. It's obscene.

I totally just buy the thing first and then drag ass my way through making listings to cover it. I have a back log I couldn't be arsed to do. After so many years it's such a grind. :dead:
