I bought this pair of Cache Pots on eBay just now. I got the feeling that they might be early twentieth century French pieces which are quite popular so I took a punt and bid. There's felt stuck on the bases.

What do you think might be underneath the felt? Screenshot 2020-10-01 at 14.07.51.png Screenshot 2020-10-01 at 14.08.11.png Screenshot 2020-10-01 at 14.08.27.png

My diagnoses is purely on the felt, I'm thinking some kid has got a big hole on his subbuteo pitch :)

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Quite possible someone only put the felt on to keep the pots from scratching table tops........IMHO!

I agree. Modern felt. Placed to protect table surface.

They do look Palissy. I'd not be surprised if they're Italian or maybe Portuguese.

Bought these on ebay this morning, some obvious damage like yours but also have a French barbotine look, no pics of base but only £5 for the pair

Do you think they might have some age John ?, colours look right for majolica

They are certainly not new. I think that they date to the early 20th century.
