The Easter before I turned ten, a Peacock's ad in the paper showed an assortment of Limoges egg boxes with a tiny bottle of L'Air du Temps inside, shared it with my Mom and on Easter Day there was one in my basket. The next year there was no basket, but another porcelain egg, over the next 40+ years, until the tradition became one of those things that left her mind, she gave me a fancy egg of some type every Easter, along with a few extras thrown in when the mood struck her, and I'd pick one up myself on occasion - so I have lots of eggs, and include Easter spoons in my collection. Recently added this uncommon little piece (4-3/8" long), a tiny mother of pearl chick tucked into the egg finial and an unusual flat round MOP bowl (bon-bon spoon?), the back engraved with a fern motif - it retains a bit of its gilding and is marked only 'Sterling', though I have seen the same twist-stem and flange on the same shape bowl, bearing a Webster Company mark.

What a lovely tradition you shared with your Mom, Cheryl. Many fond memories, I am sure.

That little chick spoon is darling, too! Happy Easter to you both!

Love this and your mother's thoughtfulness and sweetness in giving these to you. A very special lady, your mother.

An old pic of three of my Easter spoons (the center Gorham H-series has a baby face peering through a cracked egg), the box on the left, one of my purchases, is extremely worn silverplate, the enamel chick intact, as is the gorgeous unshown cobalt blue enamel interior, the other two are Halcyon Days enamel, gifts from Mom many years ago...

Those are wonderful, Cheryl I really like the egg boxes, too - they make for a very pretty display.

I know I have a couple of the little chick-in-egg spoons (sadly, still packed away) and several others with an Easter theme. (Mostly, tho, my "holiday" spoons are Christmas-themed - I have hundreds of those.)

One of these days, maybe I'll have a place to display them all again.

This Alvin ad from 1897 shows the two smaller spoons in the pic above, the same ad published a week later has the chick-in-egg spoon replaced rather clumsily with another - am guessing it was because George E. Homer held the still-active 1894 patent on the design (it was a popular spoon, would think my new spoon was based on it).

Thanks, C - enjoyed the spoons you shared on the 'Spoons' thread, would love to see more, but totally understand having your stuff packed away (I miss my stuff)...

For some reason, though I love Christmas, haven't really added them to my collection. Have made some good money on them though, and did give Mom the beautiful poinsettia-design Michelsen Christmas spoon from 1925, the year she was born.
