I recently got the sterling/gilt and enamel brooch shown below. I couldn't find much at all when doing a text search for the maker "E. Dragsted" but Google image search found lots of identical pieces marked Jemax. I can't find any text/history explaining the connection. Did one work for the other and take the design with them when they left? I have included a link here to one of the Jemax signed pieces. I'm very curious. Does anyone have any insight? Thanks! https://www.ebay.com/itm/3862249053...gzXr1e9gpO2wAwPMPnBXskHJuGy14HuN5PnWcTIks5vgg
Forgot the link with mention of the workshop. https://nasvete.com/max-standager-vintage-costume-jewelry/
Don't know...E. Dragsted was an active silversmith and designer in Copenhagen Denmark from the 1920s until his death in 1967. From what I'm seeing, Jemax was in business 1961-83. This is confusing.
Thank you, Virginia and Marie! Since Dragsted was active earlier, maybe he designed the brooch and later allowed Jemax to make it as he was perhaps an employee or designer? Not sure but I appreciate the info and links!
I assume a workshop would continue to offer (and perhaps redesign a bit) one of it's former designer's pieces, especially if it was a popular design.
Good point, Virginia! The ones I have seen from both makers appear identical but perhaps there were newer items such as necklaces, earrings, larger brooches added.
