This duck appears to be carved out of stone.
    this item is 4 1/2" X 6"

What type of stone is this?

Looks to me like it is probably soapstone.

It could be a Burmese (Myanmar) Hintha bird. A mythological duck/goose/swan that is found a lot in Burmese art.
Here is a Burmese opium/gold weight in the shape of a Hintha:

    Thanks AJ
I am not sure weather it is hand carved or machine carved. It does not have a foot or loop like the bronze opium weights. It would make a great paper weight tho. Myanmar, Thai roots makes it a lot more interesting in my eyes
