Dresden Porcelain cup and saucer?

Discussion in 'Pottery, Glass, and Porcelain' started by Matthew Bunting, Jun 16, 2016.

  1. Hello,

I have this cup and saucer, they look quite nice possibly hand painted?
Anyway the mark underneath says Dresden but i can't find any other example of this mark. Does anyone recognise is? Is this anything notable? I have a matching cup too, but i can't upload the file for some reason

    Thanks IMG_0048.JPG IMG_0045.JPG

Many Dresden marks are not well researched. I suspect it's a combination of the heavy bombing of the city during WWII and then spending many years as part of communist East Germany.

If you look at the scene under a jeweler's loop or possibly even a magnifying glass you should see little dots if it is a decal. To me, based on the design, it looks either like it was made between the wars or post WWII. Sorry I can't be of more help.

The mark is from a decorating company: Franz Junkersdorf. They were around for most of the 1900s.
