I inherited this antique doll from my mother. I just love her and I dress her up for all the holidays. But I have no clue what kind she is or what time era she is from. She looks like an effenbee lovums doll from the pics I can find online. But I am clueless. And ideas?

I know very little about dolls, but if you search - American character doll composite - you'll get examples like this:

Did you look at the back of her head, neck or back?

Thanks, I really love her :) No, I haven't looked yet but after I saw pics today online I will check tonight when I get home and see if I can find anything to identify her.

There are many distinguishing features to weed through: yours has molded, painted hair. How eyebrows are brushed, open/closed mouth, with/wo teeth......... Etc!

I honesty don't know if dolls as old as yours - and American - were marked.

Yeah I have never noticed any marking when I was dressing her. Her mouth is open and she has two teeth on top and her eyes open and close. I just don't even have any idea of where to start looking for what kind she is.

After looking at the array of composite sleepy eye dolls Google showed me, I can say with certainty that yours is particularly nice, with a really personable face. Might it be German?

I think others may ask for undressed photos, and if marked.

Thank you. Her body is completely intact. She's not missing anything no holes in the cloth part of her body. There are is one little chip on her cheek and one on the back of her head and a small surface crack next to the chip on the back about an inch long. But other than than she seems to be in good shape. I think she made a crying sounds at one time because sometimes when I lay her down she makes a small crying sound. And her eyes shut when I lay her down as well.

I would just really like to know what kind of doll she is and what time frame she's from so when I pass her down to my daughter I can let her know.

Yes I do :) My three kids are grown (25,27,29) but they all call her "Creepy Baby" and don't like her. Thanks to Hollywood, old dolls get a bad rap...so of course being the crazy mother that I am I told them...."You know they only hurt people that don't like them." LOL So when I asked my oldest if she would take "Creepy Baby" when I die she said "Seriously tho....I can take her. I don't really hate her. Unless my husband moves her or she's in the same room I'm sleeping. LOL But I could find a safe place for her. I love you enough to sacrifice my own sanity, possibly my life, to take the damn doll once your gone. I won't dress her up, but I'll dust her off in between monthly exorcisms."

My reply: Thank you for your great sacrifice. And see, if you become her new mom some day, then she will bond with you and you can sick her on people that piss you off. Like a Voo Doo doll! MUHAHAHAHAHA!!!!"

To which she replied: HAHAHA Yessssss my own evil guardian doll the possibilities are limitless .

    She's sooooo my daughter

if she's not marked, you may just have to search by what you do know, like:
    Composite
    molded painted hair
    sleepy eyes
    Open mouth
    2 teeth
    Cloth body
    Brushed eyebrows

I have no idea if she's American German or?

Once someone (im pretty sure can) give some ID, there are good databases out there, like: DollReference

    If I IDd a doll - any doll - it'd be a stunning development, so I'll stop now :)

    Have fun!
