Does this frame open?

Does this frame open up? It seems to be sealed shut and I can't find any openings. I have a set of these that I want to open up for digitizing the photos. However, I don't want to destroy the frame. I have ALOT of family photos that I am trying to organize and digitize. I think I've made some mistakes in this process. I had some photos that should have been left in their frames but I took apart and pretty much ruined both the photos and frames. I didn't know the metal type photos should remain in the original frames. This process has been quite daunting and I am such an amateur.

Also, why do some photographs have signatures? I'm assuming it was the photographer? I have a lot to learn! Thanks for any advice!

Is it a photograph or a miniature painting?

It looks to me like it wasn't made to be taken apart.

The ring on the top may unscrew to release the central band, but I'd be inclined to leave it alone. It appears to be a tinted photograph.

    'A lot' is two words.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

The signature could be the photographer, or the person who tinted it. I can't be completely positive but it does look like a heavily tinted photograph.
