I purchased a massive old framed artwork recently secondhand and was wondering who the artist is and the paintings story. I was told the below from the seller:

This framed acrylic on canvas landscape painting was painted in Italy in 1984. It features a waterfall, mountain range and forest, and two deer in the foreground. It was painted as a study of the Italian Alps. The colour scheme has a lovely cooling effect on any room. Artist initials B.E.S or could be R.E.S. A striking, large feature piece, measuring 260x160cm including frame.

Does anyone recognize this work? Whole painting.jpg 319137484_1095317504488271_6133484842989589553_n.jpg 319137484_1095317504488271_6133484842989589553_n.jpg

komokwa The Truth is out there...!

    let's see...
    mountain....forest, river....some aminamals.....ornate frame......

my guess would be a factory art painting by one of a thousand people.....
poorly framed so as to hide part of the date......and signed with some letters that could never be identified....

The description.....is more of a selling job....than any factual identification.

    Can we see the rear..?

I also suspect yours to be a decorative painting. Why do you believe the subject is the Italian Alps? And along with a photograph of the back, including frame, a close-up showing brushstrokes would be helpful.

It was in the seller's desciption.

The seller also said: "The colour scheme has a lovely cooling effect on any room."
    I beg to differ.

Is it actually a painting rather than a print? The close up of the sig looks a bit like it's on the textured board/cardboard used for prints sometimes.

You're right. Does look like textured board.
