So i got it for the frame but figured I better do a lil searching on the painting before I did anything. For the amount of trouble they went through to frame it i thought just maybe it might be worth something it's mounted with some type of board with a breather hole 6x8 in the center sealed of by some type on linen (cheese cloth?) And then tacked in every half inch instead on one to two per side and then they are sealed with tape? Anyway the whole signature isn't visible right now and can't take it out at the moment but maybe someone will recognize it? Or even the style to help narrow the searching I tried impressionist but didn't find anything similar. All the help you can give would be appreciated!! TIA!

I would probably call it modernist but some might consider it expressionist. I doubt that either will help you to pin it down. Afraid you will need to have a look at that signature to have any hope at identification.

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

I second Brad's thoughts... and I love the painting. Really captures the energy and ruggedness of the animals and landscape and weather. For fun, I Googled "wild horses" (expressionist and modernist). Saw some "wild horses" modernist-ish work by artist Nancy Blaustein, who was active mid-century. Also expressionist current artist Les Summerour "wild horses" painting. Looking forward to seeing the signature!

I think originals are so RARE (especially EARLY paintings) that your gem is an unknown/unappraised treasure... worth a professional appraisal.

Yes, it's sad, but it may mean he either held onto his paintings or that he sold them in shows, galleries, and directly to customers. Findartinfo only shows auction results.

I would think there's a market for his paintings... I think you might even find that eBay's a good place for yours. :)

Your probably right on that, I just read on the galleries site that describes just what you are saying "His paintings and prints have been collected worldwide by individuals and museums. Significantly, the New Mexico Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Fe has several pieces in their permanent collection, as does the Albuquerque Museum of Fine Arts. Important biblical works are also in the permanent collection of the Oklahoma City Art Center and the Jewish Museum in New York City."
That and locality could be a factor too I do have the advantage of living just 18 miles south of the Albuquerque area. So that should help too, I contacted the gallery last night and sent in some pics in hopes that they could tell me a little more about it.
