Terry, this would be great if it was a Yixing teapot. I haven't found a mark like yours yet; however, the following link has pics of marks found on c1830s Yixing teapots recovered from a shipwreck. Do look at Mark 22. It is a round mark with a border like yours. It appears Yixing teapot marks may be all different? Nowww I'm certainly not saying yours dates from that era, but it might be worthwhile to explore the Yixing angle for there are many Yixing teapots with applied-type decorations like vines and animals with branch and vine handles. Yixing teapots seem to come in 3 brownish shades. Have included links to Yixing teapot sites.

Hi Terry, I'm not good at archaic script and sometimes not even at handwriting, but I can tell you the printed label says your teapot was bought at the Changsha Friendship Store.

"Likely the priciest shopping center in Changsha. Many high-end name brands (think Gucci and Cartier) call Friendship Shop home. Once upon a time a Changshahua friend ended up with nearly an 800 RMB gift certificate to Friendship Shop and claims it was too little to purchase much of anything at Friendship shop (he ended up being able to use it at the eco-friendly Join-a-door). All in all Friendship Shop is expensive and not terribly busy."
