I paid $25 for this today. It's an original watercolor of a cartoon giraffe by George Grandpre. Apparently he was an animator for Disney and Looney Tunes. It's cute but it has obvious condition issues.

Would you have bought it for $25?

    All feedback welcomed (and appreciated).

George Grandpre. Have you looked on ebay for listings of his works? Some higher prices ($500-$1,400) but not seeing anything sold. It's a cute piece though.

edit: found one painting on another site that seems to have sold for about $100.

I did see that, though not 'til after I bought it. I hafta admit that I struggle to access sold prices when I'm on my phone, in a store. I usually just look at listing prices and then make a calculated guess.

    Thank you for the feedback!

Yeah that mat and frame are damaged and also damaging the piece. Remove post haste. If reselling you can do so without any additionals, but I would get an inexpensive acid free mat cut (or pre-cut) and some acid free backing, mount, hinge together and sell matted without a frame. It will elevate the piece cheaply but hopefully show that the piece could be displayed nicely even if it might have acid lines or water damage underneath.

It's worth at least the $25. You could market the Disney angle and also the nursery decor angle.
