    Good evening everyone,

I have recently purchased some shards and pieces of China and pottery for my Victorian Gold Rush Collection. (Australia).

I am told these date from the 1850s to around 1900. I am just wondering if anyone is able to help me with an approximate date of these pieces? Is it even possible to determine a date without any maker marks or stamps, especially on the unglazed one?

I will just show these 2 pieces here as I don’t want to fill up the threads with lots and lots of photos - I know how annoying this can be. There are a couple kilos of pieces this size and smaller.

I am interested to find out more about these pieces and learn a bit about pottery, as it is something I have no knowledge in.

    Thanks in advance.

The blue and white looks like part of a chamber pot. It also looks 1830s to 50s.

That's what I thought too. A thunder mug. With a transferware European scene.

Thank you very much for the replies. That is really interesting that it could likely date from the 1830s to the 1850s!

I will have to see if I can find any similar ones online, now I know the approximate date of manufacture.

Those are the biggest shards from that particular piece, but there are a few smaller ones too. I might see if I am able to repair it a bit with what pieces there are.

    Thanks again.
