Hi Guys and Gals, hope you are all having a nice Friday. Been out of touch with depression glass prices lately, but have noticed the below Sharon/Cabbage Rose Covered Cheese/Butter dishes listed and being sold for really high prices in more than one venue. At the same time, there seem to be lower priced ones also listed. What am I missing? Thanks! - Joe

Wonder what happened in the 2 months between Dec 2020 and Feb 2021 - same seller, same item, Dec one says 1 bid and "best offer accepted?", Feb one says best offer accepted. How does this work?

Okay, but what I wanted to know was why do the transactions make it look like the same item has been sold twice within 2 months via Best Offer? ;)

It must have been sold in December and returned, then relisted in February?

Or maybe they had 2 and just reused the original listing for the second one?

So "returns" don't actually show up as a cancelled sale (at least sometimes?)

Yeah, I thought about somebody having 2 to sell but discounted that idea.

Yes with the same pictures being used I was assuming it was returned then got resold even at 1200 though it was a lot.

It also could have been a nonpaying bidder but I think she might have listed it before February.

BTW They sold the one in February for $1,500.00.

I also just noticed that the one in December actually sold for $1,100.00.

It may have to do with it being real or repro. The pattern was reproduced a lot. The original lids are scarce. The difference are minute between original and repros (if I remember rightly)

Yes.....In my last depression glass book the Cheese Dish lid listed for $725.00. It is very hard to find.

If an item sells, is paid, is delivered and then returned it will look like a completed sale.

Wow, that is great, I'll read in in detail. I've got one packed away somewhere from collecting depression glass in the 1970's. Thanks so much! - Joe :p

Re the Auction format and Best Offer accepted, in the last year or so eBay has been allowing you to include a Best Offer option on your listings even with auctions.

...& sometimes they add it for you even when you do not want it. :banghead::banghead::banghead:
