Delft Blue Duck Casserole Dish, no markings....

    20191207_152257.jpg 20191209_003704.jpg This ducky has no markings or anything that I could use to identify it, The duck cover seems to be hand painted while the bottom isn't I think. It's pretty heavy. I have a feeling its American. Regardless I think its really cute.

    Welcome, YannaRiver.
    I agree, East Asian blue and white.
    The Chinese first copied blue and white on ceramics from the Persians. Potters in the Dutch town of Delft and other Europeans only started copying Chinese blue and white when trade with China came to a halt for a short time.
    Delft proved to be most succesful, hence the term 'delft' (lower case d) for some other Western blue and white ceramics. It is never used for Asian blue and white, since the Asians made it before we did.;)
