    Hello

Could you please tell me if this is silver plated also can you recognise if it has been made in the UK or elsewhere. As you can see one of pic before I have cleaned it. There is not any mark on the decanter. Thanks xx

If the first picture is the "before cleaning" one, I would say not silverplated. Tarnish on plate is not gold, but blue/black. If the first is not the before version, which one is?

Hard to say where made without any markings.

These are usually described as "claret jugs" and were heavily produced in the middle to later part of the last century.

Well, I would not normally have recommended using Brasso to clean it, but that's neither here nor there at this point. It's not now, nor ever was, silver plated. Sloppy, and in some details, crudely finished, casting. Does not bode well for much value, I'm afraid. And as I said earlier, close to impossible to know where it was made.

Hi again, I have searched on the internet this claret jug and found one of it. Slightly different handle. Do you think it's copied?
    Thank you xx

I think yours and the one you just posted are from the same time frame, which is around the time frame I indicated. They were probably produced by the same company. It may or may not have been marketed by the same company. They were made as decor/giftware items. Not really collectible.

Metalstil - the maker of the one you found online - is an Italian company.

1970s ish. Think Abigail's Party. H Samuel and others did these - and rather poor tantaluses/tantali too.

Hello Hulya, welcome to Antiquers

Please excuse me, but I can’t read this thread without saying, please, please, please never use Brasso to clean silver, ever! Buy a good quality silver polish (not Tarnex or any other “dip”). Please!
