I found this at Salvation Army and liked it for my music room. I did a little research on de andreis and found he’s has many paintings. I’m not sure if it’s actual painted by him but it definitely looks like an original. Very well done and is signed by was looks to be he’s name. Any thoughts on if it’s an actual andreis painting, age and value?
It is not an original. It says it is a facsimile of the original painting by de Andreis. Facsimile means it is a copy. The painting is called "The Cavalier", btw, not the musketeer. De Andreis did several Cavalier genre paintings.
maybe now a days the meaning of the word facsimile , is unknown to the younger generation. oh, and judging by the frame rear..... it's recent!
Louis Wolff & Co. of London. Active 1878 to 1930. Your work would have come out of a catalog like this. I would think LUWOPASTO was the reproductive process. (It appears to be a textured print of some kind.) Nicely framed. As it's a multiple, value would be decorative. I love LOVE cavaliers so I have seen this serious monsieur many times before. Not an original but a nice print with faked brush stroked veneer as others have said. I would have bought him too for my growing cavalier corner. Enjoy him!
