Hi all, this stuff is very time consuming, so I understand completely if nobody has time time to look into it. I've tried searching the name David Rattray, and do find some information out there, but having a hard time narrowing down who it could have been.
The sword is a Henderson Ames Co. sword, that if i"m correct, would date from 1893-1929, according to the maker stamp. It was found in a Masonic Lodge here in Florida. Thanks for your time.:cat:

I know a person named Rattray here.... Not a common name I would think?

More common than you might think, Milt. Searching on Ancestry without limiting date or place of birth yields many Rattray results - even quite a few David Rattrays.

I have a couple of those swords but never seen the name on the scabbard, just etched on the blade.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the help! I can't really find out any more information on him, but I'll just list and see what happens.
Komokwa, thanks for letting me know that, I didn't realize that was different. (the name on the scabbard).

U see the names on the blade all the time, but I looked to find another detailed brass scabbard like yours and couldn't find one.
I'm sure they exist, and likely are reserved for the highest members of the order , or for special occasions , & may not make it to the market that often.

I see a cross and crown which may be a Masonic, York Rite insignia. Hard to see. Masonic swords were often inscribed.
