    Hello,

I'm trying to accurately place & date a silver Russian cross pendant, but I'm rather new to this and I need a bit of help in checking my work...

My best guess is that it's made in 2003, based on:
    - The right-facing Kokoshnik mark plus the 875 is post-1994.
    - The four-letter maker's mark is post-2001.
    - The 'B' in BOBT is indicative of the year 2003. as per the four-letter system implemented in 2001.

A have a few questions on this:
    - Is the date of 2003 correct?
    - My understanding is that both the letter to the left of the Kokoshnik head and the second letter in the four-letter maker's mark refer to the territorial inspection authority --- then why is one 'O' and the other 'B'? Is this inconsistency indicative of fakery, or can it be explained somehow?
    - Which manufacturer do the last two characters "BT" refer to?

Any insight into any of these questions would be very much appreciated.

Greetings, @smichaels . I am surprised at the level of detail in your post. I am unaware of a comprehensive source for post-2000 marking information for the Soviet Union and would greatly appreciate knowing the source you are using. Is it online or hardcopy?

I don't know of a comprehensive list, but I've been using a Google-Translated version of this Russian page on the subject: https://znaytovar.ru/new492.html . If you're using Chrome as a browser you should just be able to right-click anywhere in that page and hit "Translate to English" in the menu.

Hi, what you have is a crucifix, a cross does not have the figure of Jesus on it, a crucifix does :)

Looks large enough to be a Pectoral...y'think?

It's definitely not a pectoral cross; it's a bit under 2 inches in length.
