    Hello all,
I am trying to date this button with a peg shape shank. The button is cast as one. It measures 1.5” and is 3/4” deep. The research I have done suggests mid 17th to mid 18th century and I am just trying to confirm this. Anyone have any ideas? I think that if the stones are aurora borealis rhinestones then it would be mid 20th C on. One of the people that does jewelry might know if these date to about then. Here is one that looks like yours though they don't date it.

    Hi,
The AB finish was started in 1955.

17th - 18th century bezels hold the stones in place. There are different techniques to secure the stones, all using the bezel itself, or prongs.

The fact that the stones on the button are aurora borealis, the mounts are decorative rings rather than actual bezels or prongs, and the stones are glued, all mean that it can't be 17th - 18th century.

I wonder, is this a mark?
