Hello again, my husband recently found this bowl, and I would love it if any of you guys can give me a date estimate on it. I think it might be a bit older because of the worn gold and no maker's mark, but I am new to Imari and trying to learn more. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Edit: I keep forgetting to include size. It is 10" in diameter and 4" tall.

Late 19th to early 20th century, items like this were made for quite a long time period so pinning an exact date isn't really possible. There was a fall off in quality in the 1915+ time frame but not as obvious as most Satsuma and Kutani.

That is a lovely Imari bowl, Just as Ce BCA said, these are usually late 19th and early 20th century, you can tell by the colours and the quality as distinct from Edo period and Showa period, so likely late Meiji / early Taisho period and as Ce BCA said, they did continue to make these into the Showa period. So it can be hard. I have an enormous imari plate over 20 inches and i would be delighted if it was Taisho and it has similar colours to this but it feels Mid 20th century.

I need a refresher course in japanese Imari.. time to hit the books. I am beginning to forget the all important 'education' part behind my guesses.

If anyone can teach us more about determining a more percise age for Japanese Imari I would be keen to learn. Porcelain books are expensive and sometimes those same books are as rare and antique.
