Is the front surface magnetic? Maybe someone can date the clasp.

What is the name, if there is one, of that kind of clasp? I have a pin here somehwere that has the same clasp. Mine came on a skirt I bought probably in the early 70's or late 60's.

It's damascene, either Spanish or Japanese. The Spanish ones often have a tube hinge and the Japanese ones have a rollover. Smart money says it's Japanese-made, but it could really be either. if this is the real deal,the black is cast iron and sticks to a magnet like a limpet. The other metals are hammered in.

 

That’s Spanish touristware, seventies. I’ve got a fair few.

 

Toledo damascene, made in Toledo, Spain. Gold leaf, and often silver leaf as well, hammered into blackened steel.

I'm with obb, 70s, could be a bit later.
