Part of what's written says Nemours Rocher de St Pierre La Tortue, which apparently refers to a natural rock formation called La Tortue (the tortoise) at Saint-Pierre-Les-Nemours. At least that's how I'm reading it. Nemours is in north central France. You can see the head and neck of the tortoise extending off to the left. Other views are available online. It's been a local attraction for who knows how long.

It doesn't look like a Daguerreotype to me. Maybe an Albumen print?

There would have been thousands. There might be some historical society in the Nemours area with info on local photographers, but I wouldn't know who, and they would be French speaking, and the picture might have been taken by someone just passing through.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

What is the size of this photograph? I think you can narrow the date to late 19th century or very early 20th century. Say 1880-1910. I'm basing this on the type of card mount that was used, mostly. If it is really an albumen print rather than another type of photographic print, it would be from prior to the 20th century. That type of print was not used much after the mid 1890s. When it comes to the very late 19th century other processes were also popping up.
