Any idea what the intended use is for this little piece? Also, I can't make heads or tails out of the marks. I believe silverplate from the weight of it. Thanks and Happy New Years Day everyone! :)

The bowl part reminds me of fruit serving spoons.

Unusual to see something nice looking from Egypt

I was wondering about the Egyptian mark resemblance too, Terry.

There's a great deal of fabulous Egyptian silver.

That's a badly rubbed Cairo mark.

Happy New Year, Bear! When you say, "badly rubbed," do you mean poorly struck? I don't know what those line marks are, they do look like something rubbed or scratched it, but I don't know why or how it would look so odd?
Am trying to learn the lingo! ;)

A combination of both: it's been badly struck in the first place, and then something like over enthusiastic cleaning has worn it more.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Am I off or does it look kind of like a nice little Bon Bon serving dish??

I would use that dear little thing for my tea bag. :)

Gosh, I would never have thought this was from Egypt. It's really solid and has kind of a quality feel about it. Silverplate, right?

It's about teabag sized, so could work! It's almost like a trinket dish, but with that raised pattern kind of doesn't make sense.

Thanks so much for the thoughts on this one! :)

    It is solid .700, .800 or .900.

Yours look like .800 with the town being indecipherable. The date is unclear too, likely '50s or '60s.

That's great news. Was thinking silverplate. Thank you, Terry.
