Cut Amber Glass Sphere Box

The stand is recent and was glued to the base. Wonder if the box was made from two bowls by the previous owner or it came like that from the manufacturer?

I would guess a company that produced decorator items combined two bowls with the metal fixtures and sold them under their own label.

Hangs-around looks-cute would be my guess. There's no vent for potporri and you don't cover a candy dish or matchbook holder, or if you do there's generally a hinge. It's 1960s from the metal work.
