I know its not great. Found a few home movies....lots of time with a cowboy and his horse. Is this anyone important?

Wild-eyed guess but . . . that ear looks like it belongs to a mule (not a horse). I wonder if the man is part of a "mule train" or "mule pack" which brought/brings supplies and (maybe) people into and out of "remote" regions with heavy forestation and rough and/or steep terrain. The man might be a "guide" or "ranger" out in the "wilds" or maybe he "drove" the mule(s).

Here's a youtube link to Frankie Lane's famous (one of my favorite songs) "Mule Train."

I watched this whole movie. It is a horse, fancy riding gear. There is also a parade in this movie. I think this guy and his horse were in it.
