Any ideas where this would have been made? Recent estate purchase, 5 ft across (came with 6 napkins, not shown). Guessing this was purchased on a vacation somewhere... based on other things in the house I would say purchased 1990s at the latest. I believe the fabric is cotton.

One distinctive feature: The hearts and pedals have sort of a mesh inside:

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

do the napkins have the same design, or are they different than the larger cloth?

The napkins are a simplier version, same black cloth but just a single orange flower and leaves. But they do have that open mesh-like centers. Slight differences in the flowers so I believe hand done.

Thanks. Let me google to see!

Thanks for finding that Marote. I initially got a match with a google image search (showed a Portuguese child's apron, a lot of similarities) but when I search "Portuguese embroidered black tablecloth" I only get white Portuguese table cloths. It may well be Portuguese. More comments appreciated.

Thanks Pearls. I also got a Scandi match in one link, but not a tablecloth.

If Marote says something is Portuguese, you can trust him, he is originally Portuguese.

I have a few Viana pieces myself, including one of those cute aprons I was given as a little girl. I also have a complete Viana costume, including filigree jewellery (of course;)).
